The Tellent Agent gives hiring teams, founders, and people leaders instant, plain-language answers from their own talent data, while keeping every decision with the human who makes it.
Amsterdam, Netherlands, 29 September 2026: Tellent, the People Decision Platform working with more than 7,000 organizations across Europe, today announced its agentic AI layer, marking Tellent Intelligence's shift from assistant to agent. The release introduces a single agent, present everywhere in the platform, coordinating two purpose-built capabilities for hiring and analytics. Tellent has started inviting customers to their closed beta, which will run for six weeks, followed by a public beta expansion.
The launch marks Tellent's strategic move from workflow vendor to system of guidance: AI that understands the context of the page or workflow a user is working in, surfacing information that may require attention per request, helping users act on it, without ever making the decision for them.
"At Tellent, we have extensive experience with AI, learning what works and building deliberately; not towards speed, but towards the quality of the decisions it supports," said Moritz Kothe, CEO of Tellent. "Intelligence has always been there. This is where it moves from assistant to agent. It works alongside the people making the call, but it never makes the call for them."
"Connecting the Agent to live product data wasn't just a feature decision; it was an architecture decision," said Helder Martins, Chief Product & Technology Officer at Tellent. "We built this on our internal MCP layer specifically because it lets us scope exactly what each capability can see and do, so that recommendations are transparent and every decision remains with the human who makes it. That boundary is deliberate, and it's not going away as we add more capabilities."
A market moving fast, in the wrong direction
Pressure on HR leaders to show AI adoption is intense and growing: According to HR.com, 80% of HR professionals already use AI personally, but only 31% have deployed it formally within their organizations, a governance gap that is widening as the EU AI Act, the EU Pay Transparency Directive and GDPR converge on the same requirement: every people decision must be explainable, consistent and defensible.
At the same time, a vocal part of the industry is pushing in the opposite direction, arguing that the fix for slow, inconsistent people decisions is to remove humans from them entirely. Tellent's position, set out in CEO Moritz Kothe's recent blog about how we build AI at Tellent, is that this misdiagnoses the problem: people decisions don't fail because they take too long. They fail because they are made in isolation, on disconnected data, with no feedback loop between the decision and the outcome. Today's release is Tellent's answer to that problem; not a faster way to decide, but a better-informed one.
What we're launching
Tellent's previous version of the Tellent Agent, the HR Assistant, already answered employee questions from connected company documents and handled requests submitted as tickets through chat. What's new in this release is a step towards greater contextual awareness for the Agent. Over time, it will increasingly understand the context of the page or workflow open within the platform, enabling it to answer questions and provide guidance based on that information.
The agent is backed by two specialist capabilities connected to live product data for the first time:
The Hiring Capability: understands hiring context (which candidate, what stage, pipeline state) and works alongside hiring teams from the moment a role opens to the moment a decision is made, surfacing relevant context, identifying potential process bottlenecks, missing information or workflow issues on request, helping reduce friction throughout the hiring process, without removing the human from any decision.
The Analytics Capability: answers plain-language questions about hiring data, giving founders, CFOs, and people leaders instant answers based on the hiring and talent data they are authorized to access and that is relevant to their request, turning a question that once took an analyst days to answer into an immediate conversation. An expansion to Manage data (HRIS) is targeted for the public beta phase.
Both capabilities connect to live product data via Tellent's internal MCP (Model Context Protocol) layer, a first for the Agent, which previously had no access to live data or awareness of what a user was doing in the platform. At this stage, the Agent can surface, flag, and recommend. It can also perform a set of actions, including:
- Create data visualizations based on your prompts
- Create and pin notes to candidate profiles
- Draft emails
- Manage tasks: create, update & complete
Every action always requires user approval before it's completed; nothing happens automatically.
Hire is the primary focus for this release, with Manage and Grow capabilities following in later cycles.
Built for every kind of people team or none at all
For lean, AI-native companies, the agent supports founders, hiring teams, and people leaders by surfacing relevant information, assisting with routine HR workflows, and providing recommendations that remain subject to meaningful human review. For established HR teams, they reduce manual work and accelerate hiring and analytics processes.
"The end user is always in control," Kothe added. "The Agent has contextual knowledge and can support every persona in the building: HR professionals, hiring managers, the C-suite, but it doesn't just save time. It helps people make the right call."
Built on governance and accountability at its core
Tellent's AI is built with privacy and GDPR compliance in mind, and designed in line with the principles of the EU AI Act, so that recommendations are designed to be transparent, and every decision remains with the human who makes it.
